ONE DAY – David Nicholls

I read this book with the feverish anticipation of one awaiting their life’s outcome to be told. As if somehow, all my life’s questions would be explained through the detailed narration that is the story of Dexter and Emma.

The book begins with the two meeting on the night after their graduation. Stupid drunk and high on life. Filled with the kind of optimism that one only knows in their early twenties.

Each chapter after that is a beautiful narration told with great insight and poignancy that leaves you feeling a part of them. Stumbling and groping along through their years, clutching both fear and hope into an unknown future.

Deeply moving and almost brutally honest in some parts, it is a definite must read.

My Rating: 5/5
