I sit at a party and watch
The music and voices a faint distant call
Far away echoes from a forgotten past.
Their faces the same.
Twinkling eyes
Lip’s pulled into smiles upon clear porcelain skin.
It’s all so strange – their endless game of charade.
I resent it.
I resent them.
I want to be with the outcast nerd
Who wears humanity upon his chest
Flaws and imperfections bare.
But unlike them, his heart beats.
An everyday hero in the face of his fears.
And he is warm and humble…
With unjudging eyes
Ever so real.
